I want to know if some one can help me with an issue I have with backups in my enviroment.
Recently we have migrated many of our servers from physical to virtual and every works fine but we have some issues with backups, we have to Backup 30 SQL servers and the Data Bases goes from 20GB to 400GB.
When we had the physical servers they had two HBA per server, the backups went through the SAN and the time it takes to backup the biggest DB was like 4 hours. Now we have 7 host with vSphere 5.0 and each server has two HBA, but the backup now goes through Ethernet and the time it takes to backup the biggest DB is a day or more.
The problem is that we do not have enought time to backup all the DB, we have the full backup from friday to sunday and the incremental backups from monday to thursday.
My question is, What is the best practice for backup in a full virtualized enviroment?
We have a tape library with two drives LTO4 and all the licensing for all the SQL servers.
