As an additional test, after you do the Get-EsxCli, can you display what is in $esxcli.VMHost?

the output is like below.

PS C:\Users\t> $esxcli.VMHost

That looks ok.

Now try something like

$esxcli.system.module.list()

Discrepency between ESX Cluster Capacity and Resource Pool Capacity

Dears

We have an ESX Cluster with the below resources .

We have defined a single resource pool inside the Cluster  . All VMs in this ESX Cluster are defined under this resource pool

However when we look at the resource Pool , we see the resource pool capacity is less than that of Cluster capacity  ( CPU / Memory etc )

Is this normal ?

How can we explain this  ?

Also what do you mean by the Worst Case Allocation ?  How is it calculated  ?

Also when we look at the Resource pool utilization , we see the memory utilization is reaching the worst case allocation mark  ( 432GB and not 114GB as shown in the resource pool summary ). is any impact expected with the current utilization levels  ?

Appreciate your quick response in this regard.

I prefer pragmatic over jaded lol.

For what it's worth, when we reached out, we were told this is "normal" for iOS when not managing the device.  So we're getting different information

look at the command I gave you - it writes to /tmp so no risk here to cause any harm by creating the dump.

ESXi 6.7 running on a single sata ssd shared with datastore of vm

after i set

esxcli system module set --enabled=false --module=vmw_ahci

and reboot, adapter, device, datastore gone.

i am unable to change it back even i set vmw_ahci as mention here Very slow speed on SSD

esxcli system module set --enabled=true --module=vmw_ahci

after reboot,

# esxcli system module list|grep ahci

Hello! You will have Kivuto Support until the last day of your subscription with Kivuto, you won't be affected, your time will be respected.

After your subscription ends in 2022 you will be asked to change to the new solution

Hope I was clear enough!

Do you have any more questions?

ESXi 6.5 and 6.7 Builds with LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260-8i not showing SSDs

So just some background on what I have tried with no solution as of yet. I'm not sure what the issue is?

I have looked up the compatibility matrix and the LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260-8i is compatible with multiple versions but so far I have tried 6.5.0, 6.5 U1, U2, U3 and 6.7 U1, U2, U3 and ESXi 6.5.0 U3 (Build 15177306) Custom Lenovo Build for ST50 since the server is a Lenovo ThinkServer ST50. I have tried loading multiple vibs as stated below and also checked those for compatibility. At this point, I have documented all steps of each version of esxi I have tried along with the drivers and lsiproviders and still no luck. Full details below:

scsi-megaraid-sas-6.604.54.00-1OEM.550.0.0.1331820.x86_64.vib

scsi-megaraid-sas-6.600.61.00.1vmw-1OEM.550.0.0.1198610.x86_64.vib

scsi-megaraid-sas_6.610.15.00-1OEM.600.0.0.2494585.vib

scsi-megaraid-sas_6.603.55.00-2vmw.650.0.0.4564106

lsi-mr3-7.702.14.00-1OEM.650.0.0.4598673.x86_64.vib

For ver VMware ESXi 6.5.0 build-15177306 and for LSI MegaRAID SAS Gen2 I need to have the following

VID = 1000

DID = 0078

SVID = 1000

SDID = 9251

Current output from vmkchdev -l |grep vmhba1 (according to vmware comptibility matrix this should work as well.)

VID = 1000

DID = 0079

SVID = 1000

SDID = 9261

Can't the ssd drives been seen as raw disks or do I need to configure the RAID first before esxi will see them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

If ESXi recognizes the controller, but no disks/LUNs, then you'll most likely need to configure access on the controller, so that the SSDs are presented as needed (RAID set, JBOD, ...) to the operating system (ESXi in this case).

The resolution for Catalina is to upgrade to 11.5 - that's the only supported version.

Thanks Andre, I will test with a RAID1 and see what the outcome is. I will let you know.

Any luck on this? I have 7.11 with UAG 3.81 and see disconnects as well.

For me it looks like a bug in the GUI. The worst case memory in the pool view is exactly the same value as for CPU.

Same here with vCenter 6.7u3f!
