It reported 1 vm was running. So far, so good. Once it booted I ran
vmrun -T ws stop "F:\vm\[server]\[server].vmx"
It forcefully powered off the server, which surprised me. I thought it was supposed to do a graceful shutdown as the guest have VMWare Tools installed?
Did you the documentation? Have a look at the stop Power Command on page 11 in Using vmrun to Control Virtual Machines.
That brings me back to my previous question: in VMWare Workstation 9 can you start a vm as a shared VM, have it show up when you run "vmrun -T ws list," and be able to gracefully power it down via vmrun?
Based on your tests, obviously not!
