As for running 8 months without backups, the first 7 or so was strictly R&D testing to see how our apps would run in a vm world. To insinuate that we do not care about backups is obviously a shortcoming on your part as you do not know or are aware of what our environment is about 
. As for the upgrade it did not nuke my datastores, not sure how you came up with that result from my posting, it just removed the ghetto.zip file as well as the ghettoVCB-master folder.
As for the snapshots issue this has been resolved as I was not aware that I had to specify an external .conf file which is where I was setting the allow_vms_with_snapshots from and not from within the script.
